I have experienced a drastic change in the industry I work, since COVID-19 broke into our lives. Many of my customers have left their offices, and moved into a permanent Home Office environment. Some of my friend and colleagues don't longer have a physical branch to go and work. Companies have realized in just a few months, that they CAN work from home, supervise their employees and achieve al the goals they have. They have rescinded their offices and building leases saving million of dollars in facilities and maintenance. Some people are trying to get the proper industry certifications as a transition tool to the new world requirements, and I'm probably in that group, but also my curiosity for the new, mostly technological improvements, and how a few people is shaping the world with fascinating inventions is my fuel to learn.

I was fortunate to choose a development path in which I learned a few concepts of Network Security, Network Infrastructure and Cyber Security from the Cisco CCNA and Cyber Security programs, because it helped me as a baseline knowledge in the Microsoft 365 fundamental Certification. I would suggest on having 1 or 2 classes: CCNA1 and Information Security Systems at you closest community college.

Yes, I know CCNA is not a Microsoft certification, but I can't teach Calligraphy-101 if you don't know the alphabet. I'll share some videos about the OSI Model and how information moves in the wires.

All cloud based computational environment is limited by the network path between end-users and Cloud infrastructure. That is the road the information has to take to reach you or the servers you want to reach. I can't even imagine the nightmare would be to commute from Temecula, CA to Los Angeles without a proper set of freeways and toll roads, the same way of having a poor or none network infrastructure to reach your company private or public cloud. Having basic concept of how internet works is a good starting point, and you'll learn IPV6, the final solution from the industry that solved the issue on running short on IP addresses, and eliminates the Network Address Translation NAT; and I have to say, is not a new technology, but the implementation rate in the industry is still very low and you'll need this is the near future.

Additionally here is a good source on current cyber security threats and strategies at Microsoft on this link
